CYCLING SUPPORTS THE ECONOMIC HEALTH OF OUR REGION

Portlanders drive less than people in other cities, and as a result we keep $800 million a year in our local economy.

We are saving money by becoming healthier and more productive when we get around by bike. The city of Copenhagen found in 2006 that if just 10% more miles were cycled, they would save $11 million in health care costs and $29 million in worker absenteeism. (Download report here.)
